Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the early diagnosis of child sufferers using rapid diagnosis methods, so that antiretroviral (ARV) can be given earlier and prevention of newborns whose mothers suffer from HIV through PMTCT. collected data on inpatients and outpatients, Division of Infections and Tropical Diseases, Department of Child Health, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University / Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital Makassar with a diagnosis of HIV infection from January 2012 to December 2014. The diagnosis was made based on anamnesis, physical examination, according to WHO staging and examination laboratory. The conclusion is that it is possible to reduce the incidence of children suffering from HIV infection by carrying out HIV screening earlier, namely before the conception process begins, so that the number of people suffering from new HIV infections in the future will be much reduced.
